Academician Dr. Artsybashev, MDDuring his career as a refractive surgeon, Dr. Artsybashev has led more than 25,000 successful optical operations connected with short-sightedness, far-sightedness, astigmatism, keratoconus, nystagmus and numerous other diseases. Academician Dr. Artsybashev’s surgery technique with the use of a special diamond micrometric knife is unique and based on his expertise in this area. Artsybashev's technique differs from the classical radial keratotomy method used around the world by having a decreased time of exposure, different calculations, reduced traumatism, and a shorter rehabilitation period. Doctor Sergey Vladimirovich Artsybashev graduated from the First Moscow Medical University after Sechenov (presently called First Moscow Medical Academy after Sechenov) in 1982. In 1983 he completed his internship on the basis of Faculty of Eye Diseases of the Moscow Municipal Ophthalmology Clinic after Krasnov and received his qualification as Doctor of Ophthalmology. From 1983 until 1984 Dr. Artsybashev worked as the ophthalmologist in the Moscow Municipal Ophthalmology Clinic. In 1984 Doctor Artsibashev was invited to Academician Dr. Svyatoslav Fyodorov’s Federal State Institution “Eye Microsurgery Complex”. Dr. Artsybashev immediately started working in the Department of Refractive Surgery and performed operations using a radial keratotomy method. From 1986 to 1987 he worked in the International Department of the S. Fyodorov Federal State Institution, where he operated on a commercial basis only. In 1987 Artsybashev began to work in Fyodorov's Institution in the Department of Corneal Transplantation under the direction of Professor Valentina Kopaeva. He also worked in this department with the faculty of Doctors’ Improvement of Semashko III Medical University where he operated and taught foreign and Soviet ophthalmologists of the radial keratotomy method. Among those trained in radial keratotomy (optical diamond surgery) were groups of doctors from countries such as Venezuela, Spain, Italy, China, Syria and others. In the Institution “Eye Microsurgery Complex” Dr. Artsybashev was engaged in the scientific development of surgery for diseases such as keratoconus, elimination of astigmatism after corneal transplant or pseudophakia. In July of 1988 Fyodorov’s Institution sent doctor Artsybashev on a business trip to Italy to teach the technique of radial keratotomy to doctors from Italy and San Marino, and also to carry out indicative operations. Doctor Artsybashev worked in the Svyatoslav Fyodorov's Federal State Institution “Eye Microsurgery Complex” until 1990. In 1990 the doctor began to work at an eye clinic in Budapest. In April of 1994 Dr. Artsybashev opened his own ophthalmology clinic in Budapest. The clinic provides a wide spectrum of services. Both surgical and conservative treatment is available. |
